Food has always been something important to me. Growing up in Iowa, I saw my artist mother do the best with what she had in the garden and whatever was in the fridge. She didn’t have access to Pinterest or the internet. It was just her and the Moosewood cookbook (shout out to the hippie kids!). She rarely followed a recipe, which made for some very “inspired” meals growing up. It gave me an appreciation of the meals that we enjoyed – and we’re still talking about the ones we didn’t (hello, “scalloped potatoes” — aka potatoes floating in milk). I’ve taken my mother’s qualities of never following a recipe and making do with what I have. That is what I enjoy most about cooking, the creativity and the challenge — the options are endless with food
Now I live in Minneapolis, with access to amazing resources; and I live for entertaining and cooking for friends and family, and most of all my loving, supportive, guinea pig husby, Dan ❤️
I can’t wait to share our food adventures!👯
