It’s the freakin’ weekend — and I’m ready to partyyyyyy!! And by party I mean hibernate in my house until Monday. I kid, I kid. Even though it’s cold out there are still plenty of places to go and things to do. If you’re a football fan then you might even have a football gathering to attend this weekend.
This is a great party food because it’s very “non-committal”. No utensils or plate required. You can probably even just scoop some into your hand if you want. For this reason this was the most popular snack at our NYE party. (And it’s dang good!)
And oh yeah, it’s super easy! Dump everything together and mix. Ta-da! You are now the most popular person at the party.
I’ve made this in the past with just oyster crackers and more oil. I like this new and improved recipe a lot more. The goldfish are fun and they add in a nice cheesy flavor. I also like this with the reduced amount of oil more. It does the trick and it’s just as good. Less guilt + yummier = win win!!
I always thought that putting oil on crackers was a little odd – won’t the crackers get soggy with oil?? No, no they won’t. The oil helps the seasoning stick to the crackers and gives them a good texture.
You could probably also use a different cheesy cracker, but I prefer my crackers in the shapes of animals. I bet you could do ALL goldfish – or Annie’s bunnies and goldfish. Then you could call this Party Animal Crackers! OMG, I am a genius. Next time I’m totally doing that – if only for the fun name!
So enjoy and have an ah-MAH-zing weekend! (Penny from Happy Endings reference anyone?? It’s on Hulu now, so do yourself a favor – make these crackers and binge immediately)
