Welcome! Another day, another holiday beverage!
I know, I know. It’s Monday, too early in the week for some to be thinking of drinking. But it’s not, because it’s the week of Christmas, and it’s never too early to plan your celebration.
Today’s Christmas cocktail installment is fruity and light, but festive! I like to think my Christmas persona is this drink’s namesake. One of my favorite Christmas traditions while growing up was elf duty with my sisters (aka, the kids that handed out the presents under the tree to the family). As we got older that tradition didn’t change – we just evolved into tipsy elves 😊
I normally am not one to make mixed drinks at home – especially with more than two ingredients. That’s what the box of wine on my counter is for. But when I lived with my sister we would frequently experiment with cocktails. Usually this meant Bridgette made cocktails and I sampled. I sometimes helped, but she has more patience than I do, so she was usually the bartender of the household. Guess how much patience is involved with a box of wine – zero. Yay.
But I will say this is my kind of drink, easy to make and refreshing – and if I hadn’t been making it for the blog and actually measuring things – it would be even easier, I’m usually all about the eyeballing it. I think you could easily convert this to a punch if you’re going to be making more than a couple. Especially if you’re hosting (you have other things to do besides bartend, hello!).
The tartness of the cranberry and lime make this not overly sweet. And they cut the vodka, so you can’t taste any of the booze… dangerous, but delish.
And on that note, cheers and enjoy! 👯🍸👯🍸
